India is known to be a land of spinners in international cricket. From Bishan Singh Bedi and Anil Kumble to Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian team has produced some of the finest spinners to ever grace the beautiful game and dominating with a red cherry in their hands.
A void is being felt since legendary Ashwin bid adieu to the game. Since then, there is a need for a quality off spinner who can dominate the game for the coming years for the Indian team and carry the mantle forward. On that note, here are the three the best spinners in the Indian domestic circuit, who are also in a great run of form and can bat a bit as well, just like Ashwin.
Mayank Mishra, a left-arm orthodox spinner, has quietly become one of the more consistent performers in India’s red-ball and white-ball domestic competitions. Mishra, representing Uttarakhand, has steadily built his reputation as one of the most promising spin talents.
In 41 first-class matches, the left-arm spinner has taken 175 wickets at an impressive average of 23.75. Having made his debut in November 2018, the spinner has added various assets in his guile and has been making impressive strides in domestic cricket.
This year’s Ranji Trophy season was a historic one for him, picking up a staggering 59 wickets, at an average of 17.69 in just 16 innings. His performance propelled Uttarakhand to the semifinals of India's premium domestic tournament. If he continues the same way, the door to the Indian Test team might not far away.
