Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had a disappointing campaign in the IPL 2025, finishing seventh in the points table with only six wins in fourteen matches. Despite being part of the league for four seasons, the Lucknow-based franchise has yet to lift the coveted IPL trophy. The team made headlines by acquiring Rishabh Pant for a record price at the 2025 mega auction, but his performances, while highlighted by a solitary century, were inconsistent overall.
With the IPL 2026 auction around the corner, LSG management will look to strengthen their squad, addressing key gaps and releasing players who failed to make a significant impact. Here are five players LSG could consider releasing ahead of the next season.
The right-arm pacer Mayank Yadav was retained by LSG for a whopping INR 11 crore before the 2025 mega auction. However, his IPL season was plagued by injuries, restricting him to just two matches where he claimed only two wickets. Considering his high price tag and recurring fitness issues, Mayank could prove to be a liability. LSG might prefer freeing up funds to invest in a more consistent and injury-free pacer ahead of IPL 2026.
