Rajasthan Royals were active in the trade window, picking up players like Donovan Ferreira, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran (although injured), along with the high-profile departure of Sanju Samson. The former captain has joined the Chennai Super Kings, and if his T20 World Cup form is a reflection of how his season will go, then the Rajasthan Royals will be in need of match-winners to compensate for that departure. Fortunately for them, their squad is definitely not short of star names, players who can turn games around on their own.
With the departure of Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal becomes the senior batter at the top for the Royals. With 559 runs at a strike rate of 159.71 at the top, Jaiswal proved his reliability with the bat despite an ordinary season last year. Now as a seasoned professional with international experience under his belt, he is to lead the way forward.
The Mumbai player is an extraordinary strokemaker and is able to dispatch the ball at will with textbook cricketing shots. Despite being a nailed-on starter in Tests, he has not been in contention for the Indian T20I team for a while, but a good season can change his fortunes there. And what better way to do that than by winning a few matches for the Rajasthan Royals.
