The 17th edition of the Asia Cup commenced on September 9, the final of which will be played on September 28. The 2025 edition is being contested in the 20-over format, as the T20 World Cup 2026 is not far from happening. India are the defending champions, having won the previous edition in 2023. However, that tournament was played in the 50-over format. The previous T20 Asia Cup was held in 2022, and Sri Lanka had emerged victorious.
Since the tournament's first edition in 1984, some remarkable performances have captivated the cricket fraternity. Be it the 50-over format or the T20 format, players have managed to create some spectacular records which are going to be difficult to overhaul. On this note, CricTracker has a look at five surprising records that might not be broken in the Asia Cup 2025.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar holds the record for the best bowling figures in an innings in T20 Asia Cup history. The right-arm seamer finished with mind-boggling figures of 5/4 in four overs against Afghanistan in the 2022 edition of the tournament.
Breaking the Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer's record is going to be tough for any bowler in the 2025 edition of the Asia Cup. While picking a five-for is still possible, doing the same while conceding just four runs is not an easy task, looking at how the game has favoured the batters even more over the years.
