Arjun Tendulkar, the son of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, made headlines by dismissing Samit Dravid, son of another cricketing great Rahul Dravid, during the K Thimmiappiah Trophy, a KSCA tournament held in Alur. The left-arm pacer sent Samit back for nine runs in the first innings, providing an early boost to his team, Goa.
Arjun, originally from Mumbai, switched to Goa as a professional player ahead of the 2022-23 season and was representing his new side in this contest. Samit, batting for the KSCA Secretary’s XI in the middle order, was among the notable players in the team, which also included India international Karun Nair. Goa posted a total of 338 runs in their first innings, with Arjun contributing nine runs off 20 balls from the No. 9 position. Samit, meanwhile, impressed with the ball, finishing with figures of 2/18 from nine overs.
When the KSCA Secretary’s XI came out to bat, Samit walked in following Nair’s dismissal, with the team score at 70/3. He struck a couple of boundaries and looked set to stabilize the innings but was eventually caught by Kashab Bakle in the 28th over, ending his stay at the crease. The team slipped further to 94/5, but a sixth-wicket partnership of 93 runs provided some resistance and helped them inch closer to Goa’s total.
The young left-arm pacer had earlier provided crucial breakthroughs for his side. He dismissed opposition skipper Nikin Jose in the third over and went on to take the wickets of Samit and Dhruv P in the same over. He finished the day with figures of 3/50, underlining his growing role in Goa’s bowling attack.
Although Arjun did not feature for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, he had a solid domestic season in 2024-25. He played a pivotal role in Goa’s triumph in the Ranji Trophy Plate League, claiming 16 wickets in four matches at an impressive average of 18.18. He also contributed to Goa's white-ball campaigns in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and will begin his journey for 2025-26 season on October 15.
