Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to kickstart on Tuesday, September 9. The tournament will be played in the United Arab Emirates across a couple of venues: Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This will be third time the continental event will be played in the 20-over mode.
Each of the eight participating teams picked their squads well in advance of the tournament. There were a list of players other than the regulars who made their way back from injury and were straightaway integrated into the squad of their respective countries.
Allah Ghazanfar suffered an L4 vertebra fracture (stress fracture in the back) during the 2024-25 multi-format tour of Zimbabwe. This meant that the talented 19-year-old spinner was ruled out from the Champions Trophy as well as the Indian Premier League (IPL).
After an extended layoff, he returned to action for Band-e-Amir Dragons in the Shpageeza Cricket League. Ghazanfar also played in the recently-concluded UAE Tri-Series. Both his matches were against Pakistan. He returned figures of 0/24 and 1/27.
