Hong Kong have become the third team to announce their squad ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, as Yasim Murtaza will be leading a 20-member team. The side, which will be taking part in the event after playing last in 2022, will be carrying high hopes to stage a few upsets and make it through to the Super Fours stage of the competition.
The side includes experienced names like Babar Hayat, Anshuman Rath, and Mohammad Aizaz Khan, while also carrying some talented players like Nasrulla Khan, Kinchit Shah, and Ehsan Khan. Hong Kong will be opening their campaign at the marquee T20 event in the tournament opener against Afghanistan, which will be played on September 9 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Apart from the Afghans, Hong Kong will also be facing the two other Group B team — Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, to sign off from the group stage fixtures. The Bangla Tigers are the only other team in the group to have named their squad for the elite T20 competition, and will be led by Litton Das, while star all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz had to miss out.
Hong Kong will face the Bangladeshi challenge on September 11 in Abu Dhabi. The team will then be travelling to Dubai to play their final group stage match against Sri Lanka on September 15.
