Asia Cup 2025: "I have become like Rohit Sharma" - Suryakumar Yadav remembers India's ODI skipper after forgetting playing XI changes vs Oman

During the toss ahead of India's Asia Cup 2025 clash against Oman at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday, September 19, Suryakumar Yadav remembered his Mumbai Indians (MI) teammate Rohit Sharma.
After winning the toss, Suryakumar opted to bat first. However, later in the interview, he failed to recollect the two changes India had made to their playing XI for the inconsequential clash. Suryakumar mentioned that Harshit Rana was one of the two players coming into the lineup. However, he had forgotten Arshdeep Singh's inclusion in the side.
After trying his best to recall for a brief while, Suryakumar gave up. He said that he had become like Rohit. For the unversed, Rohit's habit of forgetting things is well known. The Mumbai batter had actually forgotten what he wanted to do after winning the toss in a Champions League fixture in 2013. He had won the toss and opted to bat first, forgetting the fact that the plan was to bowl.
"We have two changes - Harshit comes in, one more guy comes in, I have become like Rohit," the Indian captain said while bursting into a laughter.
India decided to send Sanju Samson at No. 3 after Shubman Gill was dismissed for five in the second over. The Kerala wicketkeeper-batter didn't get a chance to bat in the first couple of games. This is a good move from the Indian team management as they want all their batters to get some game time ahead of the Super-Four stage of the tournament.
India also moved Hardik Pandya up to No. 4 in the batting order. However, the talismanic all-rounder was unfortunately run out at the non-striker's end after playing just one delivery. Samson, on the other hand, has gone on to score a half-century off 41 balls. The defending champions are well on course to post a 200-plus total, amassing 167/5 in 17 overs.
