Iceland Cricket is known for engaging in banter with top teams and players in the sport. They have often cracked the cricket fraternity up with their sense of humour. On Friday, September 12, Pakistan faced Oman in a Group A clash in the 2025 Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Ahead of the clash, Iceland Cricket got in the news with a social media post.
Pakistan, who are two-time Asia Cup winners, and champions of both T20 and ODI World Cups, were given the 'underdog' tag by Iceland Cricket. Their social media post caught the attention of the fans in no time.
"We will always support the underdog in cricket, and that is why we are fully behind Pakistan when taking on Oman today," Iceland Cricket wrote on their official 'X' account.
Later, Pakistan defeated Oman by 93 runs to open their account in the 17th edition of the Asia Cup. Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha won the toss and opted to bat first. While Saim Ayub was dismissed for a first ball and Sahibzada Farhan could only manage a run-a-ball 29, Mohammad Haris stole the show with a blistering half-century.
The 24-year-old smashed 66 off just 43 balls, with the help of seven fours and three sixes. Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Nawaz also played important cameos for the Men in Green. Meanwhile, Shah Faisal and Aamir Kaleem bagged three wickets apiece for Oman.
