Sri Lanka square off against Hong Kong in match No. 8 of the ongoing Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Monday, September 15.
Charith Asalanka-led Sri Lanka started their campaign with a thumping win against Bangladesh. They restricted the Bangla Tigers to 139/5 in Abu Dhabi. The Lankan Lions chased the total in 14.4 overs with six wickets to spare.
Pathum Nissanka scored 50 off 34 balls, while Kamil Mishara remained unbeaten on a 32-ball 46. In the bowling department, Wanindu Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 2/25 in four overs.
On the other hand, Hong Kong have already lost two games and are on the brink of elimination. They started with a 94-run defeat to Afghanistan before losing to Bangladesh by seven wickets. Hong Kong will know that they will have to bring their A-game to give Sri Lanka a run for their money.
Babar Hayat will be the batter to watch out for as far as Hong Kong are concerned. Meanwhile, Ayush Shukla has been among the most important batters for Hong Kong in this tournament.
The surface at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium has been balanced, with some help for batters as well as bowlers. The captain who wins the toss would opt to bowl first. Set batters should make the best of their opportunities.
Sri Lanka and Hong Kong have not faced each other so far in T20I cricket.
