Asia Cup 2025: Super Four, Match 3, Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Match Preview

Pakistan will be squaring off against Sri Lanka in T20Is for the first time after three years in Match 3 of the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2025. The match will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, September 23.
Pakistan ended up second on Group A after winning two of their three matches. Their only defeat came against India. The Green Shirts were defeated quite comprehensively by seven wickets and 25 balls to spare. Pakistan won their first and third matches by 93 runs and 41 runs, respectively. Shaheen Shah Afridi has been one of the players to watch out for. Pakistan's start in the Super Four stage was far from ideal as they come into this match on the back of a six-wicket thrashing against India.
Sri Lanka emerged as table-toppers of Group B by winning all their matches. However, they chased the target in all of their group-stage matches and remain untested in defending a total in the tournament so far. Their most-comprehensive chase was against Bangladesh, where Kamil Mishara expertly anchored the innings to a comfortable win. However, the Tigers avenged their group-stage loss in an edge-of-a-seat thriller to kickstart the Super Four stage.
The winds across the ground is expected to help the seamers with the new ball. Spinners are also expected to come into play. In all seven matches at the venue in this tournament so far, the spinners' deliveries have stuck into the surface.
Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (wk), Kamil Mishara, Kusal Perera, Charith Asalanka (c), Dasun Shanaka, Kamindu Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Thushara
