United Arab Emirates registered a 42-run win over Oman in Match 7 of Asia Cup 2025 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday, September 15. The hosts put on a fine display after getting obliterated by India in their tournament-opening clash.
Alishan Sharafu and Muhammad Waseem led UAE to 50 for the loss of no wickets at the end of the powerplay. The final ball of the 11th over finally brought the first wicket for Oman, with Sharafu departing for 51 off 38 to Jiten Ramanandi. Waseem brought up his fifty with a maximum in the 15th over.
Ramanandi ended up conceding only 24 runs in his four overs, securing a couple of wickets to his name. An 18-run penultimate over meant UAE pushed beyond 170, ending up with 172/5 on the board. Shah Faisal ended up conceding 45 runs in his four overs while Aamir Kaleem bowled only one after conceding 14 runs.
Kaleem had an outing to forget as he was dismissed for 2 off 2 in the first over of the chase. By the end of the sixth over, skipper Jatinder Singh (20 off 10) was one amongst two other batters to fall. Oman were on 50 by when half of their squad was back in the hut with the required run rate mounting up.
T20I debutant Aryan Bisht's 32-ball struggle came to an end on the fifth ball of the 13th over and Oman eventually got bowled out for 130 in 18.4 overs. Junaid Siddique was the pick of the bowlers, picking four wickets for 23 runs. He was well supported by Haider Ali (2/22 in four overs) and Muhammad Jawadullah (2/18 in three overs).

Three back-to-back fours in the sixth over of the first innings by Sharafu transferred the momentum the hosts' way. All three fours were firmly struck through the off-side, giving the fielders no chance to stop the ball.
Waseem got to his fifty on the fifth ball of the 15th over when he threw his hands at a flighted delivery outside the off stump. Waseem launch the ball well over the long-off for a soaring maximum to get to his milestone.
Despite the loss of the early wicket, Jatinder did not hold back and stroked three fours in a row. Muhammad Rohid conceded 13 runs in his first over as Oman raced to 21.
