India are set to face Oman in an inconsequential tie in the 2025 Asia Cup at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday, September 19. Both teams decided to make a couple of changes each for the final group game before the Super-Four matches get underway.

The Men in Blue have already qualified for the next round after registering comprehensive wins against the UAE and Pakistan earlier in the tournament. However, Oman have been eliminated after losing to Pakistan and the UAE. They will look to give their fans something to cheer about on Friday before they board the flight back home.

Suryakumar Yadav won the toss on Friday and opted to bat first. He said that the team has not batted first in the competition as yet, and they are willing to test their batting depth ahead of the Super-Four matches. Meanwhile, Oman skipper Jatinder Singh admitted that he would have also batted first had he won the toss. He said that playing against a formidable team like India will give his players a chance to test their mindset.

While Suryakumar did not mention any specific reason, it can be implied that India have rested Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy ahead of the Super-Four stage of the tournament. Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh have been given an opportunity to play in the continental competition. Meanwhile, Oman have brought in Zikria Islam and Mohammad Nadeem in place of Wasim Ali and Hassnain Shah.

We are looking to bat first. We have not batted first in this competition and we want to know our depth. Having game time is important going into the Super 4s. We want to continue the good habits we are doing in the first two games and want to continue to do that. It is looking nice and our openers will assess it further. We have two changes - Harshit comes in, one more guy comes in, I have become like Rohit (laughs).

I would have batted first. It is a great experience to take from here. Our team is young, lack exposure but this gives them a good chance to come here and test themselves. It is a great opportunity to share the field with India and get a look at their mindset. We have two changes.
