Bangladesh A (BAN A) are set to face Pakistan A (PAK A) in the Asia Cup Rising Stars final on Sunday, November 23. The highly-anticipated clash is set to take place at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium.
Bangladesh A will be high on confidence after knocking favourites India A out of the competition in the semi-final. Fast bowler Ripon Mondol stood out during the pulsating encounter as Bangladesh A won in the Super Over. The Akbar Ali-led side has won three matches and lost just one so far in the eight-team affair.
Meanwhile, Pakistan A won all their matches in the group stage to progress to the semi-final. In the group stage, they defeated India A. Irfan Khan's men got the better of Sri Lanka in the semi-final, winning the match by five runs.
The surface is expected to have something in it for both batters as well as bowlers. The captain who wins the toss could bowl first. However, the last four matches in the tournament have been won by teams batting first. If the batting team can keep wickets in hand, they can explode in the back end of the innings.
Bangladesh A and Pakistan A will face each other for the first time in this tournament.
Habibur Rahman Sohan, Jishan Alam, Zawad Abrar, Akbar Ali (C & WK), Abu Hider, SM Meherob, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Yasir Ali, Rakibul Hasan, Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, Ripon Mondol.
Mohammad Naeem, Maaz Sadaqat, Yasir Khan, Mohammad Faiq, Irfan Khan (C), Ghazi Ghori (WK), Saad Masood, Shahid Aziz, Ahmed Daniyal, Ubaid Shah, Sufiyan Muqeem.
Maaz Sadaqat is going to be the batter to watch out for on Sunday. The southpaw needs just five runs to displace Vaibhav Suryavanshi at the top of the list of leading run-getters in the competition. He will look to get his team off to a flying start, something which he has done time and again so far.
Bangladesh A's right-arm fast bowler Ripon Mondol is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. He has accounted for eight wickets in four matches at an average of 13.75. The 22-year-old has impressed with his ability to bowl yorkers consistently in the death overs. It will be intestering to see how the Pakistani batters deal with him.
