Afghanistan A (AFG A) lock horns with Hong Kong (HK) in match No. 11 of the ongoing Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 tournament at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha on Wednesday, November 19.
Afghanistan will have to win on Wednesday to stay in contention for a spot in the semi-final. They started with a three-wicket win against Sri Lanka in their opening fixture. In their second game, however, Darwish Rasooli's men suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Bangladesh A.
On the other hand, Hong Kong have suffered heavy losses in their first two games so far. They lost to Bangladesh A by eight wickets and Sri Lanka A by seven wickets. Yasim Murtaza and Co. will look to end their campaign with a win and give their fans something to cheer about.
The surface has slowed down considerably, with batters having to work hard to score their runs. Spinners have caused a lot of problems, especially through the middle overs. Batting teams will look to go hard at the top, inside the powerplay, because scoring would get tougher once the ball gets old.
Imran Mir, Noor ul Rahman (WK), Sediqullah Atal, Darwish Rasooli (C), Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai, Nangeyalia Kharote, Farmanullah Safi, Qais Ahmad, AM Ghazanfar, Abdullah Ahmadzai, Bilal Sami.
Zeeshan Ali (WK), Anshuman Rath, Babar Hayat, Nizakat Khan, Shiv Mathur, Yasim Murtaza (C), Aizaz Khan, Kinchit Shah, Ehsan Khan, Nasrulla Rana, Ateeq Iqbal.
Sediqullah Atal played a stunning knock in the game against Sri Lanka A. He scored 54 off just 27 balls, hitting three fours and five sixes. The southpaw will look to play another blistering knock on Wednesday and boost Afghanistan's chances of reaching the knockouts.
AM Ghazanfar will be the bowler to watch out for on Wednesday. The mystery spinner has picked up five wickets in two matches at an average of 8. His economy rate is an incredible 5. Ghazanfar will have conditions in his favour and will look to spin a web around the Hong Kong batters.
