India U19 scripted a famous sweep over Australia U19 at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay by winning the second Youth Test by seven wickets on Wednesday, October 8. The low-scoring contest did not even take two whole days to conclude, as the visiting bowlers made a light work of Australia's power-packed batting line-up.

By the end of the first day's play, India were seven down on 144. They had already taken the lead from Australia, who had gotten bowled out for 135 earlier in the day. Henil Patel's determined stay at the crease came to an end during the second over of the day. He was dismissed for 22 off 76. The innings came to an end after Naman Pushpak was dismissed for a 17-ball duck.

The Australians were under immense pressure after Henil Patel struck twice in consecutive deliveries in the second over of their second innings. Skipper Will Malajczuk got out to Udhav Mohan, with the score reading 9/3 in 7 overs after the end of the over. Alex Turner's wicket halfway through the 12th over meant that Lunch was taken.

Yash Deshmukh was bowled by Mohan a few overs into the second session. Naman Pushpak's first wicket of the game was in the form of Kasey Barton (19 off 28). Top-scorer for the hosts from their first innings, Alex Lee Young, was the last wicket to fall. He scored 38 off 78 this time around. Tea was called and India needed just 81 for victory.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi departed for a golden duck on the final ball of the first over. Ayush Mhatre, who had struck three boundaries in the very first over of the run-chase, had his furniture disturbed by Barton on the first ball of the subsequent over. Through a flurry of boundaries, though, India reached 44/2 after five overs. The third wicket fell, with Malhotra being dismissed for a run-a-ball 21.

Suryavanshi should be fast-tracked like Sachin: Bharucha

Vedant Trivedi (33* off 35) and Rahul Kumar (13* off 14) led India past the finish line. The touring side had successfully whitewashed Australia in their own backyard. They had earlier romped past them in the 50-over leg too, winning all three of their games quite convincingly. Trivedi emerged as the leading run-getter in both the phases of the landmark tour.
