India won the fourth T20I at the Carrara Oval in Queensland on Thursday, November 6, by 48 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series against Australia.
Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to field first in the high-voltage clash. Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill got the team off to a solid start, adding 56 runs inside seven overs. The former was dismissed for a 21-ball 28. Shubman slowed down considerably after the powerplay, eventually getting out for a 39-ball 46. Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav got themselves off to starts but couldn't convert them into big scores.

Axar Patel scored an unbeaten 21 runs off 11 balls at the back end of the innings, helping the Indian team get to 167/8 in 20 overs. Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa picked up three wickets apiece for the Aussies.
In reply, the hosts struggled big time on a two-paced surface with variable bounce. They did get off to a good start but lost their way once the ball got softer and Suryakumar brought his spinners on.
Axar Patel and Varun Chakaravarthy spun a web around the Aussie batters. Shivam Dube also took the important wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Tim David before Washington Sundar bagged a three-for in quick time at the end. Australia were bowled out for 119 in 18.2 overs.

While Shubman Gill top-scored with a 39-ball 46, it was Axar, who stood out with an important knock of 21* off 11 balls. The southpaw hit one four and one six in his innings, giving India some much-needed momentum, which they could carry into the second innings.
Nathan Ellis continued his purple patch in the series. The right-arm pacer bowled with a lot of heart and used his variations to good effect. He accounted for the wickets of Gill, Dube, and Washington Sundar, finishing with figures of 3/21 in four overs. Ellis bowled his spell at an exemplary economy rate of 5.2.
This is the second-lowest target successfully defended versus Australia in Australia in T20Is. 119 all out is the second-lowest T20I total for Australia at home.
