Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is set to miss the 50-over leg of the upcoming series against Australia. The three-match ODI series is scheduled to get underway on October 19. However, he is anticipated to be back for the five T20Is.
Hardik was recently in action in the 2025 Asia Cup, where he played six out of India's seven matches. He did not feature in India's five-wicket win against Pakistan in the summit clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 28, due to a left quadriceps injury, with team management picking Rinku Singh in his place in the absence of a like-for-like replacement.
Hardik did not get a proper chance to bat in most of the matches due to India's top-order domination Hardik played a crucial 29-ball 38against Bangladesh in their 41-run win in the Super Fours. He was also appointed the duty to bowl with the new ball and he picked up four wickets in six innings while conceding runs at an economy rate of 8.57.
Meanwhile, the squad for the white-ball series against Australia has not been named yet, and it will be crucial to see who replaces Hardik in the ODI squad.
The ODI series will also see Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli return to action for India. The two last played international cricket during the title-winning 2025 Champions Trophy in the United Arab Emirates. There is a lot of anticipation for the duo to feature as they aim to be fit for the 2027 World Cup.
The three-match ODIs will be played on October 19, 23 and 25 in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney, respectively. There will be a brief hiatus after which the T20I series will kickstart. The series will conclude on November 8.
