AUS vs IND 2025: Josh Inglis, Adam Zampa ruled out of ODI series opener in Perth

Australia will miss the services of wicketkeeper Josh Inglis and veteran spinner Adam Zampa in the first ODI in the three-match series against India, starting on Sunday, October 19. This game will be played at the Perth Stadium. The hosts are already entering the series without key players like Pat Cummins, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell.
Inglis has failed to recover from a right calf injury, which had sidelined him from the three-match tour of New Zealand earlier this month. He could also miss the second ODI, which is scheduled to be held in Adelaide on Thursday, October 23. On the other hand, Zampa will miss the first T20I due to family reasons.
Inglis' absence means that Australia will have to play against India, at least in the initial stages of the series, without their two first-choice wicketkeepers. Australia's first-choice keeper, Alex Carey, is currently playing the Sheffield Shield ahead of the Ashes series and will be making a delayed start in this series. Josh Philippe joins the team. The 28-year-old has not played an ODI since July 2021.
Philippe had also replaced Glenn Maxwell in Australia's recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand. However, the top-order batter did not get a chance to play in any of the games. He has featured in three ODIs, scoring 65 runs.
Australia's World Cup and World Test Champions-winning captain, Cummins, is recovering from a lumbar back stress and plans to resume bowling drills next week. He is unlikely to be available before the second Ashes Test in December in Brisbane.
Meanwhile, Green is focusing on his preparation for the Ashes and has gone back to playing Sheffield Shield cricket. He will also miss Australia's T20I series against India in order to prioritise his preparation for the Ashes.

Australia will defend the coveted urn from November 21 onwards. This assignment will begin after the conclusion of the five-match T20I series against India finishes on November 8.
