AUS vs IND 2025: Virat Kohli records most ducks among active cricketers in ODIs

With the latest four-ball duck Virat Kohli registered in the second ODI of the three-match series against Australia, his tally increased to 18 in the format. The first and second ODI of the ongoing tour of Australia was the first time Kohli was dismissed for a duck in consecutive innings.
Ahead of the ongoing series, Kohli was level on terms with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Litton Das and Brendan Taylor for the most number of ducks by active cricketers in ODIs. However, the past couple of innings have been ones to forget for the legendary batter.
Kohli was dismissed LBW by Xavier Bartlett in the fixture in Adelaide. Bartlett, playing his first match of the series, landed it on a length around off stump. Kohli missed connecting bat with ball via his across-the-line flick. Despite the LBW looking plumb and also with the on-field umpire having given it 'out', there was a brief chat after which Kohli started walking back to the pavilion.
As Kohli was walking back, he was applauded off the field by the jam-packed crowd at the Adelaide Oval. He acknowledged the crowd while arriving closer to the boundary but looked visibly disappointed with how he got dismissed. For the unversed, Kohli departed for an eight-ball duck in the series-opening encounter in Perth.
Virat Kohli falls for successive ODI ducks for first time
Coming to the ongoing match, Australia won the toss and elected to field first. Bartlett provided the first breakthrough of the innings by getting rid of skipper Shubman Gill. The opposition skipper Mitchell Marsh caught Gill at mid-off. The India captain departed for a paltry outing of nine. At the time of writing, India are 137 for the loss of three wickets in 30 overs, with Shreyas Iyer (51*) and Axar Patel (1*) at the crease.
