AUS vs IND 2025: Why is Kuldeep Yadav not playing in AUS vs IND 2nd ODI?

Australia are set to lock horns with India in the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, October 23, 2025. The Mitchell Marsh-led side clinched the first ODI with a convincing seven-wicket win over the visitors. Australian pacers rattled the Indian batting lineup in a rain-truncated encounter. India will be hopeful of bouncing back to level the series, while the hosts will aim to seal the series with another victory.

Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first, stating that everyone loves playing on the Adelaide pitch. He added that both teams would look to put on a great show in front of a big crowd. Indian captain Shubman Gill mentioned that it becomes challenging when rain interrupts play and expressed hope for an uninterrupted game.

India have named an unchanged playing XI from the first ODI in Perth, with no changes to their lineup. Kuldeep Yadav continues to miss out, as India stick with two all-round spin options and three pacers. Australia, on the other hand, have made three changes, bringing in Alex Carey, Adam Zampa, and Xavier Bartlett in place of Josh Philippe, Matt Kuhnemann, and Nathan Ellis, respectively.

We are gonna bowl first. It was really pleasing (win in the 1st ODI). A lot of positives from last year. One of the better pitchers in the country this year. Everyone loves coming to play here. We always get amazing crowds, and hopefully both teams put on a great show for the big crowd today. Any time you get a chance to win a series in game two, it's an awesome opportunity. We've got a lot of young guys, so I look forward to it. Alex Carey comes in for Philippe. Xavier Bartlett comes in for Ellis.

We would have bowled first as well. Happy to bat first. Never easy when it rains, starting and stopping. The weather looks good today, hopefully no stoppages today. Batting first, hopefully we'll get plenty of runs on the board. And then get some movement under lights when we have the ball in our hand. We are going with the same team.
