Beth Mooney became the fourth Australian batter to surpass 7,000 international runs in women’s cricket, and she shows no signs of slowing down. She scored 76 runs and was named Player of the Match as Australia secured a six-wicket victory over India women's cricket team in the first ODI at Allan Border Field on February 24.

With this win, Australia levelled the multi-format series at 2-2, with two ODIs in Hobart and a Test match in Perth still to be played. Mooney reached the 7,000-run milestone when she had just six runs in her innings, joining an elite group of Australian greats, including Meg Lanning, Ellyse Perry, and Alyssa Healy.

"I didn't know that came up tonight but certainly when I first started playing with this team I didn't think I'd be on too many lists alongside those three players. It is probably a testament to being around for a long time but also the opportunities that have been presented to me. I am very grateful and lucky that the coaching staff I've had throughout my career, and the selectors I've had, have shown a lot of faith and trust in me. Hopefully that is not the end and I have plenty more in me,” said Mooney as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Mooney stated that it is a great privilege to play alongside Healy. She acknowledged the valuable partnerships they have shared at the crease and praised Healy as a class player, capable of adapting to any match situation.

"It has been a real privilege to play alongside Midge [Healy] and obviously spend a fair bit of time out in the middle with her. We have had some pretty amazing partnerships along the way. Tonight was much-needed after back-to-back wickets,” said Mooney.

"To see the way she adapts and changes her style of play based on the conditions and the situation in front of her has been class throughout her career. To share a partnership with her was cool and hopefully we've got a few more in us by the end of the series,” she added.

Mooney said that Australia, having chased down the target with more than 11 overs to spare, were on track for 300. She added that conditions in Hobart would be different and that it would be nice to play a couple of ODIs on what is expected to be a good batting wicket.

"That's where we want to be as a batting group, where we are adapting to conditions but also taking the game on where we can. To level out the series has been really good for us and hopefully we can win the next two as well leading into the Test,” said Mooney.
