Australia (BAN) will be up against India (IND) in the second game of the five-match series at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on Friday, October 31. The series is currently levelled at 0-0 after the first game got washed out.
Rain played spoilsport in the opening T20I, forcing the game to end with no result. After being put in to bat by Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh, India got off to a good start with Abhishek Sharma hitting early boundaries. However, his quick cameo of 19 came to an end when Nathan Ellis dismissed him. Shubman Gill and captain Suryakumar Yadav then steadied the innings, after a rain interruption reduced the match to 18 overs per team.
Suryakumar, getting his touch back after a lean patch, looked in decent form. Gill too found rhythm, finishing unbeaten on 37 off 20 balls as India reached 97/1 in 9.4 overs before heavy rain returned to wash out the game.
Mitchell Marsh (C), Travis Head, Josh Inglis(WK), Tim David, Mitchell Owen, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Philippe, Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Josh Hazlewood
Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson (WK), Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah
In the first game, the young opening batter Abhishek Sharma looked where he left off from the Asia Cup. The southpaw showed his aggressive intent right from the first ball. Despite hitting four boundaries, he got out on 19. Abhishek will look come in fresh for the upcoming match.
Josh Hazlewood could be the best bowler in the upcoming second T20I against. The veteran pacer was able to finish three off his overs in the 9.4 overs played. Conceding 24 runs in his spell, Hazlewood got some movement off the pitch, looking to trouble Abhishek and Gill. The pacer will be hoping to make the most of the Melbourne pitch and get wickets.
