Following Bangladesh‘s hard-fought 2-1 victory in the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand, the focus now shifts to the shortest format. The three-match T20I series kicks off tomorrow at the Bir Shrestho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram.
This series marks a significant return for the “Bengal Tigers,” who are playing their first T20I of 2026 after missing the T20 World Cup due to domestic administrative decisions.
Led by Litton Das, Bangladesh enters this series with high morale after clinching the ODI trophy. They have a strong record at home, particularly in Chattogram, where their spinners like Rishad Hossain and Nasum Ahmed are expected to thrive on the slower surfaces. The inclusion of the explosive Parvez Hossain Emon and the return of Mohammad Saifuddin adds much-needed depth to their pace-bowling all-rounder slot.
New Zealand has traveled with a largely inexperienced squad under the veteran leadership of Tom Latham. While missing several “superstars” currently occupied with the IPL, they still boast dangerous T20 prospects like Tim Robinson and Dean Foxcroft (who was the Player of the Match in the 1st ODI). Their pace attack, featuring Ben Sears and Ben Lister, will look to exploit the early morning humidity and coastal breeze.
New Zealand: Tom Latham (c/wk), Katene Clarke, Dane Cleaver, Nick Kelly, Bevon Jacobs, Dean Foxcroft, Josh Clarkson, Nathan Smith, Blair Tickner, Ish Sodhi, Ben Sears, Jayden Lennox, Tim Robinson, Ben Lister, Matthew Fisher
Bangladesh: Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Saif Hassan, Litton Das (c/wk), Parvez Hossain Emon, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shoriful Islam, Nurul Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Ripon Mondol, Abdul Gaffar Saqlain
