BAN vs PAK 2025, 1st T20I Review: Taskin, Parvez Hossain help Bangladesh take 1-0 lead

Bangladesh began their T20I series against Pakistan on a high, registering a comfortable seven-wicket victory in the first match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. A clinical all-round performance saw the hosts chase down 111 with ease, finishing the game in just 15.3 overs.
Bangladesh opted to field first after winning the toss. Pakistan’s innings was affected by poor shot selection, soft dismissals, and three costly run-outs. Fakhar Zaman was the lone fighter with the bat as he scored 44 off 34 balls, but his efforts went in vain due to a lack of support from the other end. Taskin Ahmed (3/22) and Mustafizur Rahman (2/6) were the stars with the ball, with the latter delivering Bangladesh’s most economical four-over spell in T20Is.
Dismissals of Saim Ayub, Mohammad Haris, and Captain Salman Agha saw the Men in Green struggling at 40/3. Soon after, Bangladesh fielders ran out both Mohammad Nawaz and Fakhar. The final over saw Pakistan lose three wickets in as many deliveries, two to Taskin and one more run-out, and were bundled out with three balls to spare.

Bangladesh’s chase started on a sad note as they lost Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das early, both falling to debutant Salman Mirza. Parvez Hossain Emon anchored the innings, smashing an unbeaten 56* off just 39 balls, lacing his knock with three boundaries and five sixes, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Towhid Hridoy played an important cameo with 36 off 37 balls, after being dropped twice during his stay. Together, Emon and Hridoy added a 73-run stand for the third wicket. Jaker Ali (15* off 10) finished the game with two boundaries, sealing the win with 27 balls to spare. Bangladesh’s seven-wicket win records their first-ever time bowling out Pakistan in a T20I. The team continued their solid run as they recently defeated Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series by a 1-2 margin.
"We know about the wicket, because we played lots of cricket here in Mirpur. It's not an easy pitch to bat. The way we batted is good. The 2nd innings the ball comes on nicely, probably due to the dew. We bowled well and took early wickets. Someday you will catch extraordinary, someday even good players can drop. We know how Fizz can execute in Mirpur. Sakib and Taskin bowled well too. That's a good sign - if you saw the last couple of T20Is, the top 4 batted long and gave runs. Hridoy is more experienced now and understands cricket really well and Emon batted well," Litton Das said at the post-match interview.
