Mohammad Rizwan and Litton Das were involved in a heated on-field spat on Day 4 of the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Sylhet on Tuesday.
The incident occurred during the 72nd over of Pakistan’s second innings when Taijul Islam was bowling to Rizwan. The Pakistan batter defended a full delivery but was visibly unhappy with movement near the sight screen. He immediately raised the issue with the on-field umpire, which led to an animated exchange involving Litton Das.
Umpire Allahudien Paleker quickly stepped in to defuse the situation, and play resumed after a brief delay. During the exchange, Litton questioned Rizwan, asking, “What are you doing?” Rizwan responded, “Look, look, he’s standing there,” referring to the distraction. Litton then asked why he was looking around instead of focusing on batting, to which Rizwan replied, “Is that your job, mine, or the umpire’s?”

Mohammad Rizwan faces brutal sledging in Sylhet Test
Coming to the match situation, Taijul Islam starred with four wickets as Bangladesh moved within three wickets of a series sweep, reducing Pakistan to 316/7 in pursuit of a daunting 437-run target. Rizwan remained unbeaten on 75 at stumps, holding Pakistan’s hopes together, while Sajid Khan was on 8 at the other end.
Earlier, Pakistan had shown resistance through key partnerships. Shan Masood and Babar Azam added 91 runs for the third wicket before Taijul broke through, dismissing Babar for 47 with a leg-side dismissal.
Saud Shakeel was later caught off a sharp Nahid Rana delivery, while Masood was removed via a short-leg catch. Nahid Rana impressed with raw pace, finishing with 2/58 and providing early breakthroughs, including the dismissal of Abdullah Fazal for 6. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also struck by trapping Azan Awais lbw for 21.
Despite a brief fightback led by Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha, who added a crucial 134-run stand, Taijul returned to break the partnership and later dismissed Hasan Ali for a duck, shifting momentum firmly back to Bangladesh. Bangladesh had earlier posted 278 in the first innings, powered by a century from Litton Das, before bowling Pakistan out for 232. In the second innings, Mushfiqur Rahim led with 137 as the hosts set a massive target of over 400 runs.
With Bangladesh already leading the series after a 104-run win in the first Test, they are now on the verge of sealing a second consecutive series sweep over Pakistan, with history strongly favoring the home side in this final push.
