BAN vs WI 2025: Bangladesh vs West Indies Highlights & Result – 3rd ODI

Bangladesh defeated West Indies comprehensively by 179 runs in the third ODI at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka to win the three-match series 2-1 on Thursday, October 23.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and opted to bat first. Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarkar gave the hosts a fantastic start, adding 176 runs inside the first 26 overs. However, both batters fell in quick succession, failing to convert their fifties into centuries. Najmul Hossain Shanto also contributed with a 55-ball 44 as Bangladesh finished on 296/8 in 50 overs.
In reply, Alick Athanaze and Brandon King looked to provide a solid platform for the visitors, but Nasum Ahmed dismissed them in consecutive overs inside the powerplay. Keacy Carter tried to dig deep, but the other batters couldn't deal with the rampaging Bangladesh spinners, who were on fire on a helpful surface.
Wickets kept falling in succession, and Akeal Hosein tried to provide the handful of West Indies fans in the stadium some entertainment with a quickfire cameo. However, that only delayed the inevitable, as the Caribbean side was bowled out for 117 in 30.1 overs.
The 32-year-old Soumya Sarkar played one of his finest innings in international cricket, scoring an 86-ball 91 in difficult batting conditions. He hit seven fours and four sixes during his stellar knock. The southpaw deserved a century, but he couldn't clear the fielder at mid-wicket off Hosein's bowling.
Nasum Ahmed bowled a terrific spell with the new ball. Bowling inside the powerplay is never easy for a finger spinner, especially with one left-hander at the crease. However, the 30-year-old bowled with great control, and the West Indies batters looked all at sea against his phenomenal accuracy. Nasum finished with stunning figures of 3/11 in six overs.
This was the first bilateral series win in ODIs for Bangladesh since March 2024. They had lost four on the bounce before this assignment.

Soumya Sarkar was adjudged Player of the Match for his magnificent knock in testing conditions. After registering scores of 4 and 45 in the first two games, Sarkar would have hoped for a big knock and it came for him on Thursday.
The epic opening partnership between Saif and Sarkar will be remembered by Bangladesh fans for a long time. This is the second-highest opening stand for the Tigers in ODI cricket after the 292-run partnership between Litton Das and Tamim Iqbal against Zimbabwe in 2020.
West Indies and Bangladesh will now face each other in a three-match T20I series in Chattogram. The first game will be played on Monday, October 27.
