BAN vs WI 2025: Shamar Joseph ruled out of Bangladesh tour with shoulder injury

In a major upset for the West Indies, fast-bowling all-rounder Shamar Joseph has been ruled out of the ongoing tour of Bangladesh due to a discomfort in his shoulder. Additionally, Jediah Blades has also been hit by a stress fracture on his lower back, forcing him to return home for further rehabilitation process. The two have been replaced by Akeal Hosein and Ramon Simmonds for the remainder of the ODI series.
Notably, Joseph had been hit by an injury earlier this month as well, which threw him out of the recently-concluded Test series against the Indian team, which the visitors lost 0-2. While Joseph travelled with the squad for the Bangladesh white-ball series, part of both ODI and T20I squads initially, will not be taking any further part in the series. He did not play the opening ODI in Dhaka, as the Caribbeans lost by 74 runs.
The second game will now be played at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, October 21, and the Shai Hope-led side are in a do-or-die situation to keep the series alive. They failed to chase down a paltry total in the previous encounter, and if given a chance to bat second again, the side will hope to not replicate a similar performance, drawing the series 1-1 with the Mehidy Hasan Miraz-led side.
Following the third and final ODI at the same venue, the teams will be engaging in a fierce 20-over battle for three matches in Chattogram on October 27, October 29, and October 31.
ODI squad: Shai Hope (captain and wicketkeeper), Keacy Carty, Alick Athanaze, Ackeem Auguste, Amir Jangoo, Brandon King, Sherfane Rutherford, Roston Chase, Justin Greaves, Khary Pierre, Romario Shepherd, Gudakesh Motie, Ramon Simmonds, and Akeal Hosein
