With the Asia Cup 2025 on the horizon, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced the squad for the tournament. The selectors have gone for a balanced mix of youth and experience, aiming to build momentum not only for the continental event but also for the upcoming T20I series against the Netherlands.
Nurul Hasan, who was last seen in Bangladesh colors during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, has returned to the squad. Since then, he has consistently impressed in domestic cricket and also featured for the Bangladesh A side, keeping himself in the selectors’ radar. His comeback is seen as a reward for sustained performances and leadership in domestic competitions.
Similarly, Saif Hasan has also made his comeback. His last appearance came in the 2023 Asian Games, after which he was dropped from the squad. His return will add depth to Bangladesh’s batting options, particularly in the top order, as the team aims to strengthen its middle-over stability ahead of the Asia Cup.
Litton Das will once again shoulder the responsibility of leading Bangladesh in the shortest format. Known for his aggressive batting and calm presence on the field, Litton has gradually grown into a leadership role over the past couple of years. His appointment signals the selectors’ trust in his ability to guide a relatively young squad through high-pressure tournaments, while also setting the tone with his own performances at the top of the order.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who was part of the previous T20I squad, could not retain his spot in the 16. Instead, he has been placed in the reserves alongside Soumya Sarkar, Tanvir Islam, and Hasan Mahmud. Interestingly, former T20I captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has not found a place even in the standby list, marking a surprising call from the selectors.
