BCCI announce India A squad for Rising Stars Asia Cup; Jitesh Sharma to lead

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-member India A squad for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)’s Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025, set to take place in Qatar from November 14 to 23, 2025. The tournament will be held at the West End International Cricket Stadium in Doha, featuring top emerging players from across Asia.

In a significant move, wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma has been appointed as the captain of the squad, while Punjab all-rounder Naman Dhir will serve as the vice-captain. The squad features a perfect mix of promising young talents and IPL sensations who have shown immense potential in recent domestic and franchise cricket seasons.

The squad features several emerging stars who have made headlines in the IPL and domestic tournaments. Among them is teenage batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has impressed with his fearless stroke play and maturity beyond his years. Joining him is Priyansh Arya, widely recognized as one of the breakthrough performers of the IPL season, whose attacking style could be crucial at the top of the order.

Other notable inclusions include Nehal Wadhera, Suryansh Shedge, Ramandeep Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, all of whom have demonstrated consistency in the domestic circuit. On the bowling front, Yash Thakur, Vijay Kumar Vyshak, Yudhvir Singh Charak and Gurjapneet Singh add depth and variety to India’s pace and spin attack.

Additionally, the team will carry two wicketkeepers – Jitesh Sharma and Abhishek Porel – providing flexibility in both the batting lineup and behind the stumps.

The Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025 promises to be a competitive tournament with several young talents showcasing their skills on an international platform. India A has been drawn in Group B, alongside Pakistan A, UAE and Oman.

India A will begin their campaign against UAE on November 14, followed by a high-voltage clash against Pakistan A on November 16. Their final group-stage match will be against Oman, with the top teams advancing to the knockout rounds.
