BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) secretary Devajit Saikia condemned the shocking molestation of two cricketers from the Australian women's team ahead of their clash against South Africa at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
According to Cricket Australia (CA), the incident occurred when the players were walking to a cafe on Thursday, October 23. Two Australian players were "touched inappropriately" by a man, perched on a motorcycle.
The culprit, named Aqeel Khan, was subsequently arrested by the police. He belongs to Khajrana but now resides in Azad Nagar. He has a criminal past.
Saikia said in his statement that it is an "isolated incident" and one which will be dealt with under a zero-tolerance policy. He also said that the BCCI will look to strengthen security measures if required in order to ensure that such incidents don't take place in the future.

“This is a deeply regrettable and isolated incident. India has always been known for its warmth, hospitality, and care towards all guests. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards such acts. We appreciate the swift and effective action taken by the Madhya Pradesh Police in apprehending the accused. The law will take its due course to ensure justice is served. We will also review our existing safety protocols and strengthen them further, if necessary, to ensure such incidents are not repeated," Saikia said in the statement.
Meanwhile, Australia finished their league-stage campaign in the Women's World Cup with a convincing seven-wicket win against South Africa on Saturday. They will face India in the second semi-final on Thursday, October 30, at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
