Match 27 of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will feature Dhaka Capitals (DHCP) and Rangpur Riders (RGR) at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday, January 16.
The Capitals find themselves at No. 5 on the points table, with two wins and six defeats from eight matches. Even winning their last two games won't ensure them a place in the playoffs. Rangpur Riders will have to lose their final couple of matches. Then it will boil down to which team has the better net run rate.
Rangpur Riders are in search of one win to seal a place in the playoffs. They have won four matches and lost as many. The Nurul Hasan-led side will play Noakhali Express to end their league-stage campaign after their face-off against the Dhaka Capitals on Friday.
The action has finally shifted to Dhaka after 24 gruelling matches in Sylhet. Batters can score a lot of runs if they are willing to get accustomed to the conditions. Spinners tend to get a lot of help from the track, especially in the second innings. Once the ball gets softer towards the back end of the innings, scoring could get tougher.
Saif Hassan, Abdullah Al Mamun, Saif Hassan, Mohammad Mithun (C & WK), Nasir Hossain, Shamim Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Imad Wasim, Tofael Ahmed, Ziaur Rahman Sharifi, Taijul Islam.
Kyle Mayers, Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Nurul Hasan (C & WK), Madmudullah, Aliss Al Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Nahid Rana, Akif Javed.
Towhid Hridoy has blown hot and cold in the tournament, but Rangpur would hope that their star batter comes to the party on Friday. In eight innings, he has scored 207 runs at an average of 29.57 and a strike rate of 127.77. The right-handed batter has notched up two fifties so far.
Mustafizur Rahman is going to be the bowler to watch out for on Friday. The seasoned veteran has accounted for 13 wickets in eight matches, averaging 16.30. Rahman's economy rate is also an impeccable 7.06.
