Afghanistan produced a commanding all-round performance to crush Bangladesh by 200 runs in the third and final ODI at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, completing a 3-0 series whitewash over The Tigers. The victory underlined Afghanistan’s growing consistency in the 50-over format, with their bowlers and batters combining superbly to complete a flawless campaign.
After opting to bat first, Afghanistan’s innings was anchored by opener Ibrahim Zadran, who fell agonizingly short of a century with a brilliant 95 off 111 balls. He stitched together key stands with Rahmanullah Gurbaz (42) and Sediqullah Atal (29) to lay a solid foundation. The fireworks came late in the innings courtesy of veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, who blazed his way to 62 off just 37 deliveries, hammering four boundaries and five towering sixes.
Despite a middle-order slump that saw Hashmatullah Shahidi and Ikram Alikhil fall cheaply, Afghanistan posted an imposing total of 293 for 9 in their 50 overs. For Bangladesh, Saif Hassan surprisingly shone with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for just 6 runs in his four overs, while Hasan Mahmud and Tanvir Islam chipped in with two scalps each. However, the rest of the bowling attack failed to contain the Afghan batters, conceding boundaries at regular intervals.
Chasing 294, Bangladesh never looked in control as Afghanistan’s pace and spin attack ran riot. Only Hassan showed resistance with a gritty 43 off 54 balls, featuring two fours and three sixes. The rest of the batting lineup failed to offer any support, with no other player crossing double digits besides Mahmud (9).

Young seamer Bilal Sami was the star with the ball, dismantling the Bangladesh batting order with a sensational five-wicket haul for just 33 runs in 7.1 overs. Rashid Khan was equally lethal, returning figures of 3 for 12 in his six overs, while Azmatullah Omarzai also chipped in with an early breakthrough. Bangladesh’s innings folded meekly for just 93 in 27.1 overs, handing Afghanistan a mammoth 200-run victory.
Sami was deservedly named Player of the Match for his devastating spell that broke the backbone of Bangladesh’s chase. Meanwhile, opener Zadran was adjudged Player of the Series for his consistent performances throughout the series, including a match-winning fifty in the first ODI and his near-century in the decider.
With this emphatic win, Afghanistan completed a 3-0 sweep over Bangladesh — winning the first ODI by 5 wickets, the second by 81 runs, and the third by a massive 200 runs. The result marks one of Afghanistan’s most dominant series victories in recent years, highlighting their rise as a formidable force in world cricket.
