Antigua and Barbuda Falcons (ABF) cross swords with Barbados Royals (BR) in match No. 3 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, on Sunday, August 17.
Imad Wasim-led ABF played the opening game of the season against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKN) by six wickets. They were bowled out for 121 in 17.1 overs. SKN chased it down in 15 overs, with six wickets to spare.
Barbados Royals, on the other hand, will begin their campaign in CPL 2025 on Sunday. They are led by Rovman Powell. Last season, the Royals were eliminated by Guyana Amazon Warriors in Qualifier 2 after finishing at No. 4 at the end of the league phase.
The surface at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, is known for being balanced in nature. The bowlers who have variations up their sleeves will enjoy bowling on this surface. Keeping wickets for the back end could be crucial.
Jewel Andrew (WK), Rahkeem Cornwall, Karima Gore, Bevon Jacobs, Fabian Allen, Shakib Al Hasan, Imad Wasim (C), Odean Smith, AM Ghazanfar, Jayden Seales, Obed McCoy.
Brandon King, Quinton de Kock (WK), Kadeem Alleyne, Eathan Bosch, Sherfane Rutherford, Rovman Powell (C), Shaqkere Parris, Chris Green, Jomel Warrican, Daniel Sams, Nyeem Young.
Sherfane Rutherford will have to play a key role in the Barbados Royals' middle-order. The southpaw will be high on confidence after scoring an important half-century in the decisive third T20I against Pakistan to help the West Indies win the match and the series.
Jayden Seales bagged six wickets in the final ODI against Pakistan earlier this week. However, he conceded 26 runs in just two overs in ABF's opening fixture. The tall right-arm pacer will be eager to bounce back strongly. He will be the bowler to watch out for on Sunday.
