Indian red-ball captain Shubman Gill will lead North Zone in the 2025 edition of the Duleep Trophy. Haryana's top-order batter Ankit Kumar will be Gill's deputy-in-charge. Gill is coming off a successful debut Test series as captain for India with the bat as well as on the field.
In the specific case of an international commitment coming up for Gill, Shubham Rohilla has been named as Gill's replacement. Gurnoor Brar will replace Arshdeep Singh and Anuj Thakral will fill in for Harshit Rana on the same condition as mentioned above. The arrangement was necessitated as Asia Cup is set to run from September 9 to September 28 and will overlap with the dates of the Duleep Trophy.
Anshul Kamboj, who recently made his international debut in the recent Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, was another seamer named in North Zone squad. Left-arm spin-bowling all-rounders Mayank Dagar and Nishant Sindhu have also been listed in the roster.
The other Delhi players in the squad other than Harshit are 22-year-old Yash Dhull and 25-year-old Ayush Badoni. The triad is currently in action in the 2025 edition of the Delhi Premier League.
There are five players enlisted from Jammu & Kashmir including opener Shubham Khajuria and seamer Auqib Nabi. Auqib was the second-highest wicket-taker (44 wickets in eight matches at a stellar average of 13.93) in the 2024-25 installment of the Ranji Trophy.
North Zone will play the domestic season's opening clash against East Zone from August 28 at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
