Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed after his three-ball stay at the crease in the ongoing second semi-final clash of the Duleep Trophy 2025 between West Zone and Central Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground B in Bengaluru. Jaiswal is representing West Zone in the squad led by all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who opted to bat first after winning the toss.
The left-handed batter was trapped in front by a Khaleel Ahmed delivery from the over-the-wicket angle. Jaiswal played all around the ball and walked back to the pavilion in utter disappointment. Khaleel made good use of the nippy conditions and was rewarded with the big dismissal of Jaiswal.
West Zone lost their first wicket in the very first over itself. In fact, Jaiswal had cashed in on the very first delivery of the match. He clipped the incoming delivery, which was drifting onto the pads for a boundary through the square-leg region.
Jaiswal amongst a list of prominent capped players to be playing in a star-studded dugout. West Zone also have Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer in their line-up, alongside up-and-coming names like Tushar Deshpande and Tanush Kotian. On the other hand, Central Zone's side comprises captain Rajat Patidar, Deepak Chahar and Khaleel, to name a few.
Speaking of Jaiswal's current performances in the longest format, he is coming off a 411-run tour in the recent five-match series against England. He was previously involved with Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League for the 2025 season and had a few decent outings under his belt. He won't be taking part in the Asia Cup, but is a part of the standby players for the tournament alongside Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel.
Duleep Trophy 2025: Akshay Wadkar added to Central Zone
The Bhadohi-born was not selected in the 15-member squad for the eight-team event, contrary to fans and cricket pundits' expectations. Earlier, there had been reports floating that he will be one of India's backup openers for the marquee tournament. However, the side has gone ahead with Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill and Sanju Samson. For the unversed, Samson is likely to be benched as the selectors have picked Jitesh Sharma as the preferred wicketkeeper.
