ENG vs IND 2026: England vs India Highlights & Review – 3rd ODI
England and India faced off in the third and final ODI at Lord's, London, on Sunday, July 19. After being put in to bat first, England produced a commanding batting display to post a daunting 387/3 before restricting India to 360/7 to seal a thrilling 27-run victory and clinch the three-match series 2-1.
England's innings was built on a sensational 192-run opening partnership between Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell. Duckett led the charge with a magnificent 141 off 135 balls, while Bethell played the perfect supporting role with a fluent 91 from 93 deliveries. After the opening stand was broken, Joe Root ensured the momentum never dipped with an unbeaten 74 off just 48 balls. Jos Buttler then provided the finishing flourish, smashing an unbeaten 41 from only 13 deliveries to propel England to a formidable total.
In reply, India got off to an excellent start as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill stitched together a 147-run opening stand. Rohit was at his vintage best, hammering 138 off 110 balls with 17 fours and five sixes, while Gill contributed a classy 77. Virat Kohli kept India's hopes alive with a well-made 74 off 60 deliveries after the openers departed.
However, England wrestled back control in the final phase of the chase. Sam Curran triggered a collapse by dismissing Kohli, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and Axar Patel, while Jacob Bethell removed the dangerous Rohit. Despite late resistance from Gurnoor Brar and Arshdeep Singh, India eventually finished on 360/7, falling 27 runs short.
Rohit Sharma turned back the clock with a sublime century under pressure. Chasing a mammoth target of 388, the Indian opener played an aggressive yet composed knock of 138 off 110 balls, striking 17 boundaries and five sixes. His 147-run opening partnership with Shubman Gill laid the perfect platform for the chase and kept India in contention for the majority of the innings.
