ENG vs IND 2026: England vs India Highlights & Review – 3rd T20I

In one of the most one-sided encounters, India suffered a massive 125-run defeat at the hands of England in the third T20I at Trent Bridge on Tuesday, July 7. The win means that Harry Brook's side are now 2-0 up in the five-match series and cannot lose to the visitors with two matches to go.

Having been put into bat, England had a slow start but eventually found their feet. The opening pair of Phil Salt and Jos Buttler put 43 runs on the board within the powerplay, providing a strong platform. Salt was the pick of the batters for the hosts with a quick-fire half-century. The Three Lions were given a strong finish to their innings by Sam Curran, who struck 41 not out off just 24 balls, taking the score past 200 from their 20 overs.

In reply, India had one of their worst T20I outings. In an attempt to play aggressive cricket in the powerplay, the Men in Blue lost five wickets in the first six overs, all while trying to hit big. The defending T20 champions would falter for just 76. Josh Tongue and Jofra Archer took seven wickets between them, with Adil Rashid ending the innings with two wickets.

Phil Salt returned to form with an outstanding 70 off 44 balls to help England to a competitive total of 201 runs. The right-handed batter had a slow start to his innings but would eventually find his feet. Striking at 159.09, the Welshman hit seven fours and three sixes in a breathtaking display of batting.

In only his second T20I match, Josh Tongue produced a great spell of fast bowling to take four wickets. Conceding just 28 runs from his four overs, the hometown hero took the crucial scalps of Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan within the first six overs, putting England in the driver's seat in the game.

Jofra Archer was awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding spell of bowling in the powerplay. The right-arm fast bowler bowled three overs in the opening passage of play, taking as many wickets, including the all-important wicket of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Both sides will return to action for the fourth T20I on Thursday, July 9, to be played at the County Ground in Bristol.
