ENG vs SA 2025: Phil Salt's fourth T20I century gets him past Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma's record in danger

Phil Salt shattered all sorts of records during the second T20I of the three-match series between England and South Africa at Old Trafford in Manchester on Friday, September 12. Salt blazed through to an unbeaten 141-run knock off just 60 balls in a record 146-run win for England. The colossal margin was England's greatest in the 20-over format.
Salt also eclipsed the dynamic Suryakumar Yadav's record of becoming the fastest batter to four centuries in the shortest format of the game. Suryakumar had previously taken 57 innings to get to the number. Salt, on the other hand, got to the tally in 15 innings fewer. Reaching the milestone in just 39 balls, he also surpassed teammate Liam Livingstone for registering the fastest ton by an English batter in the men's T20I mode.
He also has the joint-second-most number of hundreds in 20-over internationals, behind Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell
Thus far, there are six batters who have scored three tons in men's T20I cricket. The 29-year-old Salt has ample time to build on his tally and get to the top of the list if he continues his red-hot form. His incredible knock comprised 15 fours and eight sixes. It was mainly due to him that England became the first full-member T20I side to score a 300-plus total.
2nd T20I: ENG amass 304, muster biggest win by runs in T20Is
The Proteas ended up getting bowled out for 158 in 16.1 overs, as opposed to the hosts' 304/2. Jofra Archer (3/25 in 3 overs) impressed with the ball. Sam Curran, Liam Dawson and Will Jacks all chipped in with a couple of wickets apiece. The matter has now come down to the third and final match of the series on Sunday, where the two sides will contest a series-decider, currently levelled at 1-1.
