Legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar has lavished massive praise on the Indian women's team's historic victory at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London, congratulating the team for scripting a brilliant win at the home of cricket. The batting great has described the win as a significant milestone in the growth of women's cricket. The legendary cricketer was present at the venue to witness history being made and also shared a moment with Harmanpreet Kaur's side ahead of the match, reflecting on the significance of the occasion, taking to his official social media handle post the resounding 270-run win for the Indians.

The Test match lasted a full four days at Lord's Cricket Ground in London, running from July 10 to July 13, 2026. India sealed a historic 270-run victory after dismissing England for 186 while defending a target of 457, clinching the first women's Test ever played at Lord's. Yastika Bhatia became the first woman to score a Test century at Lord's with a maiden international century of 113, while Kranti Gaud took 5 for 37 in England's first innings, etching her name onto the Lord's Test honours board. Richa Ghosh also reached an unbeaten fifty, at which point India declared their second innings closed.

Tendulkar highlighted the prestige attached to playing at Lord's, saying the landmark fixture had fulfilled the aspirations of a new generation of cricketers. The former India batter drew a broader perspective on how the sport has evolved, placing this victory within the context of women's cricket's expanding opportunities and recognition at the game's most iconic venues.

"The journey of women's cricket has been remarkable, and this was another beautiful step forward," Tendulkar wrote.

India Women maintained their unbeaten record in Women's Tests on English soil and improved their record to seven wins, three draws and one defeat in their last 11 Tests. The win came just days after India's T20 World Cup group-stage exit at the same venue, allowing Harmanpreet Kaur's side to end their English tour on a triumphant note with a statement performance in the longest format.
