Sanju Samson has shared how he feels while wearing the Chennai Super Kings' jersey in a social media video shared by the franchise itself. Samson was recently traded from Rajasthan Royals to CSK ahead of the auction for IPL 2026.
The wicketkeeper-batter expressed how excited he had been for wearing the CSK jersey. He also mentioned that the bright colour made him feel different than the dark-coloured kits he has worn in the past editions of the IPL.
"I have been waiting for this day and I am very fortunate that I am going to wear the yellow jersey. As I said, I've always been wearing dark colours like black, blue, brown, but yellow, definitely, great feeling to wear that jersey. Honestly, I never thought about how I would feel wearing the CSK jersey. I felt very positive and happy, felt very different. A different energy comes while wearing that jersey. I felt like a champion, I felt like 'ok wow!'," stated Samson in the video.
The five-time IPL champions spent INR 18 crore to bring Samson on board. The trade was made in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, both of who moved to RR for INR 14 crore and INR 2.4 crore, respectively. With this, Samson's stint of eleven long seasons with RR comes to an end. Barring the two seasons in which they were banned, he had been an integral component of the franchise.
Samson asked the RR management for a move in the past few months, a development had shocked many in the cricket fraternity. However, it was understood that he was on the hunt for a fresh challenge and CSK's long-term vision of leadership made the franchise an exciting prospect. Samson will be expected to be a critical part of the team's top-order unit.
