Former pacer lashes out at Pakistan legends for not nurturing new talents after Yuvraj-Abhishek success

Former Pakistan pacer Tanveer Ahmed criticised Pakistan's cricketing legends for not grooming new talents in the country. He drew comparisons with legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who has been contributing in the development of Abhishek Sharma as a cricketer.
Yuvraj started mentoring Abhishek during the COVID-19 pandemic. The legendary former Indain cricketer organised training sessions for Abhishek and helped him with technical and tactical aspects of the game. The youngster's career took off since the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and he hasn't looked back since then.
In the ongoing Asia Cup, Abhishek is th leading run-getter, having amassed 173 runs in four innings at an average of 43.25 and a strike rate of 208.43. In India's most recent game against Pakistan in the Super Fours in Dubai on Sunday, September 21, Abhishek smashed 74 off 39 balls, helping the Men in Blue register a comfortable six-wicket win. They chased down a 172-run target inside 19 overs.
After the success of the Yuvraj-Abhishek duo, Ahmed highlighted how former Pakistan cricketers don't invest time in helping talented cricketers in the country hone their skills.
“Yuvraj just tweeted and congratulated Abhishek Sharma. The question is, how many of our legends have actually produced, nurtured, and developed any future star?” he wrote on 'X'.
Apart from Abhishek, Yuvraj has worked with the likes of Shubman Gill and Prabhsimran Singh, among others. While Shubman is India's Test captain and T20I vice-captain, Prabhsimran impressed in the IPL this year.

They are set to face Bangladesh in Dubai. The Bangla Tigers will be on a high after beating Sri Lanka by four wickets in their first game in the Super Fours.
