The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 came to a thrilling conclusion on Thursday, February 5, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets in a high-octane final at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara.

RCB secured their second WPL title with a record-breaking run chase, registering the highest successful pursuit in the history of the tournament. Chasing a daunting target, RCB showed composure and attacking intent in equal measure, sealing the victory with two balls to spare and sparking celebrations among players and fans.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals Women produced a commanding batting display to post 203 for four in their 20 overs, setting up what looked like a match-winning total. Jemimah Rodrigues anchored the innings with a fluent 57 off 37 balls, striking the perfect balance between aggression and stability.

The Capitals’ innings was further bolstered by valuable contributions from Laura Wolvaardt and Lizelle Lee, who ensured that the scoring rate never dipped. In the final overs, Chinelle Henry provided the late flourish, smashing 35 off just 15 deliveries to propel Delhi past the 200-run mark.

RCB’s response was led by an outstanding captain’s knock from Smriti Mandhana, who scored a blistering 87 off 41 balls. Her innings set the tone early and kept the required run rate firmly under control. She found an ideal partner in Georgia Voll, who played a mature and composed knock of 79 off 54 balls.

The duo stitched together a match-defining 165-run partnership for the second wicket, effectively tilting the contest decisively in RCB’s favour. This stand came after RCB lost Grace Harris early, making the recovery even more impressive.

Delhi Capitals attempted a late comeback by picking up three quick wickets across the 17th, 18th and 19th overs, briefly injecting tension into the chase. However, RCB’s lower order kept their calm, ensuring the target was overhauled without requiring last-over heroics.

The triumph also ensured a significant prize-money boost for RCB, making the title win even sweeter for the Mandhana-led side.
