GT 2026 Retentions: Released, Retained & Trade Players List Ahead of IPL 2026 Auction

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 champions Gujarat Titans (GT) enjoyed a solid campaign in IPL 2025, eventually finishing in fourth place. Their group-stage performance was one of the most convincing of the season, largely due to the dominance of their top-order batters, who consistently outplayed opposition attacks across venues.

Sai Sudharsan, captain Shubman Gill, and England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler all crossed the 500-run mark during the season, forming one of the most formidable top threes in the tournament. Their exceptional form, however, meant that GT’s middle order received limited time in the middle, leading to concerns over depth and flexibility in high-pressure situations. As a result, the franchise is expected to strengthen its middle-order options in the upcoming mini-auction, scheduled to take place on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.

Gujarat Titans have emerged as one of the league’s most successful franchises in recent years. They lifted the trophy in their debut season in IPL 2022 under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, finished as runners-up in IPL 2023, and missed the playoffs in IPL 2024. Heading into the 2026 season, GT will look to retain their core group while releasing underperforming players to build an even stronger squad at the mini-auction.
