Hanuma Vihari predicts Hardik Pandya’s next IPL destination as MI exit rumours gather pace

The IPL rumor mill is already buzzing months before the 2027 season, with speculation surrounding the future of star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Reports suggest that Pandya is set to end his association with the Mumbai Indians after a difficult IPL 2026 campaign, and former India batter Hanuma Vihari has now shared his thoughts on where the dynamic all-rounder could land next. According to Vihari, one franchise stands out as the overwhelming favorite to secure Pandya’s services.
One of the biggest talking points ahead of IPL 2027 is the uncertain future of Pandya at the Mumbai Indians. The all-rounder, who returned to the franchise amid massive expectations, reportedly informed the management during IPL 2026 that he would not continue with the team beyond the season.
According to reports, Pandya’s decision was influenced by a combination of mental stress, physical exhaustion, and an unsettled dressing-room environment. Mumbai endured a disappointing campaign and finished ninth on the points table, far below the standards associated with the five-time champions.
The underwhelming season reportedly led to growing frustration within the camp, prompting Pandya to reassess his future. As a result, discussions have intensified regarding whether he will be traded to another franchise or enter the player pool ahead of IPL 2027. With one of India’s premier all-rounders potentially becoming available, several franchises are expected to closely monitor the situation.
Sharing his views on the developments, Vihari predicted that Chennai Super Kings could emerge as the frontrunners for Pandya’s signature. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Vihari suggested that CSK’s squad composition and long-term planning make them a suitable destination for the Indian all-rounder.
“They can trade an all-rounder as well but the options are less. Hardik they won’t get. I think 99.9% he will go to CSK. They have to somehow find a foreign all-rounder be it an Australian, or England, or South African. I feel that is the only loophole as such, otherwise the team is still set,” said Vihari.
Vihari’s comments have added fuel to the growing speculation linking Pandya with the Chennai-based franchise. While no official confirmation has emerged from either side, the possibility of seeing Pandya in CSK colors has already generated significant excitement among fans.
The experienced all-rounder possesses the qualities that could fit seamlessly into Chennai’s setup, including leadership experience, finishing ability, and the versatility to contribute with both bat and ball.

Even though the next IPL season is still some time away, storylines are already beginning to take shape. A potential Pandya transfer could become one of the most talked-about moves in league history and significantly alter the balance of power among franchises. Whether Pandya ultimately joins the Super Kings, moves to another team through a trade, or enters the auction pool, his future will remain under intense scrutiny in the coming months.
For fans, the uncertainty only adds to the anticipation. With high-profile player movements, strategic trades, and franchise reshuffles expected before IPL 2027, another dramatic chapter in the tournament’s history appears to be on the horizon. If the early rumors are anything to go by, entertainment, intrigue, and blockbuster headlines are guaranteed long before the first ball of the season is bowled.
