The much-awaited India tour of Australia 2025 is just around the corner, and fans are eager to witness the return of modern-day greats Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to international action. Under the leadership of young skipper Shubman Gill, Team India will play three ODIs and five T20Is, starting with the ODI series on October 19. This tour marks the comeback of Kohli and Rohit, who will feature in the 50-over format after a long gap, having already retired from T20Is and Tests.
The spotlight will undoubtedly be on the duo, especially Kohli, who has enjoyed tremendous success on Australian soil over the years. His memorable centuries in previous tours have made him one of the most feared opponents in those conditions. As the countdown to the series begins, cricket fans and former players have started sharing their expectations—and former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is among them.
Speaking on JioHotstar, Harbhajan heaped praise on Kohli’s mental toughness and ability to perform when the pressure is at its peak. He praised Kohli for being a player who thrives under pressure and delivers his best when the situation gets tough. Harbhajan highlighted that Kohli has earned immense respect by scoring crucial centuries in Australia and leading the team with responsibility in testing conditions. Calling Australia his favourite hunting ground, the former spinner expressed excitement about Kohli’s return after the IPL and confidently predicted that the star batter could score at least two centuries in the upcoming three-match ODI series.
“Some players thrive when things get difficult; that’s when they bring out their best. And Virat Kohli is one of those players. He shines on big occasions, and that’s what sets him apart from others. He waits for those big opportunities, those high-pressure games, and that’s when he shows why he’s a champion,” Harbhajan said.
“When you perform against the best, that’s when you earn respect, and he’s earned that, especially after scoring those hundreds in Australia and taking on the responsibility of leading the team. Those are the challenges he looks forward to. Australia is his favourite hunting ground, and now he’s making his comeback after the IPL. I’m really looking forward to seeing him bat in those three ODIs, and hopefully, out of those three, he gets at least two centuries for India,” added Harbhajan.

With the ODI World Cup 2027 still two years away, this series could play a significant role in shaping India’s long-term plans. Many cricket experts believe that the performances of Kohli and Rohit in the upcoming matches will determine whether the selectors continue to back the experienced duo for future ICC events.
The pair’s return adds a sense of stability and experience to the Indian lineup, which has recently been led by youngsters in white-ball formats. Both players have been key architects of India’s success in ODIs over the past decade, and their presence is expected to boost confidence within the dressing room.
