Ace India and Kolkata Knight Riders batter Rinku Singh recently disclosed how Priya Saroj, his now-fiancée, broke down in tears after the former's heroic performance for Kolkata Knight Riders against Gujarat Titans in the 2023 IPL. For the unversed, Rinku smacked five consecutive sixes to seal a historic run-chase for his team against Gujarat Titans.
Rinku revealed that Priya's father did not know who he was up until then. Rinku recalled Priya tearing up over call, noting that marriage prospects and talks regarding the same ended up becoming easier after Priya's father became aware about him.
"She (Priya) was crying on the phone. Saachi didi (Nitish Rana's wife) told me she was emotional. It was such a big day, five sixes were hit, people had started to know me. I was feeling that maybe things could become easier; about marriage and all that. At that time, her father didn't know who Rinku Singh was. He didn't know anything. He had no interest in cricket. Yes. He didn't have that much idea," Rinku shared on a video on Raj Shamani's YouTube channel.
Rinku further shed light on how the Player of the Match performance transformed his life; both on and off the field.
"That moment for me was life-changing. All the hard work I had done in my life, I got the reward in that match. My followers, Instagram followers started increasing, recognition came, from there everything changed. Overnight everything changed. Name, followers, everything was given by the One above that day," he added.
