Hollie Armitage named MI London Women's captain

MI London has appointed England international Hollie Armitage as the captain of the Women’s Team for the 2026 Women’s Hundred.

Armitage was picked up in the landmark Hundred Auction in March and joins coach Lisa Keightley, with whom she lifted the 2025 Women’s Hundred with the Northern Superchargers.

"It is no secret that we hoped Hollie Armitage would lead the side after signing her in the auction. The role of captain in a short-form game is crucial, and Hollie brings a brilliant cricket brain and a degree of calmness to make crucial decisions under pressure," Keightley said, as reported by ESPNCricinfo.

"We're really happy with how the squad is put together, and we'll be keeping a close eye on the domestic talent in the upcoming Vitality Blast to complete the squad in July," she added.

Armitage has represented England six times in WT20s and WODIs. She came through at Yorkshire and now plays for Durham in county cricket, whom she also captains.

She has led the Northern Superchargers for four seasons, since 2022, having taken over from Lauren Winfield-Hill. Winfield-Hill was also the skipper of the Oval Invincibles in 2025, before their rebrand to MI London ahead of the 2026 season. In four seasons with the Superchargers, Armitage led them to two finals, finishing runners-up in 2023 and lifting the title in 2025. She has scored 430 runs in the competition in 36 matches, with a highest score of 46.

"Being named MI London's women's captain is a huge honour as we start an exciting new chapter. Lisa is a terrific coach to work alongside, and we are eager to replicate last year's success in MI London colours," Armitage said, as reported by the aforementioned source.

"The Kia Oval is always such a great ground to play at, but it is particularly special to play there in the Hundred in front of big crowds. We can't wait to get going,” she added.

Sam Curran was earlier named the captain of MI London's men's team, when he was retained prior to the auction.
