Over the past two seasons, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has witnessed several players leaving to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Traditionally, the PSL is held from January to March, allowing it to conclude before the IPL begins. However, over the last two years, scheduling conflicts with the IPL have raised concerns for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), as PSL players have been tempted to leave if injury replacements or other openings arise in the IPL.
In February 2025, Pakistan hosted the Champions Trophy, prompting the PSL to be rescheduled for March-April, which created a direct clash with the IPL. Again this year, the PSL faced an overlapping window with the IPL, as the schedule was pushed back due to the T20 World Cup being held in February and March.
During IPL 2025, South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch, who was in the Diamond category for PSL 2025 and selected by Peshawar Zalmi for around $85,000, withdrew from the tournament to join Mumbai Indians as a replacement for Lizaad Williams. As a result, he was banned from the PSL for a year.

In IPL 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders parted ways with Mustafizur Rahman, who had been purchased for INR 9.20 crore at auction, while Blessing Muzarabani, initially signed by Islamabad United to replace Shamar Joseph in the PSL, left to join KKR. Though not officially confirmed, West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie, scheduled to play for Lahore Qalandars, is rumored to have withdrawn from the PSL to join Lucknow Super Giants.
Australian pacer Spencer Johnson, signed by Quetta Gladiators, is also reportedly set to leave the PSL, with speculation that he may join Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for Nathan Ellis. Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka, awaiting minor paperwork in the PSL, joined Rajasthan Royals in place of Sam Curran for INR 2 crore.
