Wonderboy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has already gotten the world talking about his exceptional talent and power-hitting abilities, owing to his sensational and out-of-this-world knocks in the Indian Premier League as well as other forms of high-level cricket. However, he is not satisfied yet and wants to go the distance with an aim to break Chris Gayle's long-standing record of the highest score in T20 cricket.
During an interaction with former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, Sooryavanshi revealed that he wants to score a double hundred in a 20-over encounter, which will not only make him the first man to do so but also break Gayle's record from 2013 in the process, where he scored 175 off 66 balls for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
"(On batting first or chasing) Anything. I want to score 200 runs in a T20 match. Yeah, I want to do that. "I want to break Chris Gayle's record, and I want to score a 200," said a confident Sooryavanshi during an interaction on The Switch with Pietersen.

Sooryavanshi has been in sensational form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 for the Rajasthan Royals. He has already scored 583 runs in 14 matches and is also the leading run-getter for his side in the tournament and fifth highest overall at the end of the league stage. He also hit a 38-ball 103 in this season, showing consistency and longevity to carry a start forward into a big knock.
With the playoffs approaching, the 15-year-old will look to add a lot more runs to his tally to help RR make it through to the final, which will be their first since 2022 if it actually happens. Sooryavanshi is next expected to be in action against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator clash on Wednesday, May 27, which is set to be played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium, New Chandigarh.
